"which affirms the Seven Ecumenical Councils of Christianity as authentic and valid historical expressions of our Christian response to the urgings of the Holy Spirit. We acknowledge that our human understanding involves an incomplete intellectual grasp of the Divine Mystery, so we make this affirmation consistent with the divine gift of individual conscience, which both authorizes and requires our ongoing informed interpretation and discernment in spiritual matters."
Presiding Bishop Mark Elliott Newman, O.C.
Our Mission Statement
St. John’s Catholic Church of Antioch is a dynamic community of progressive spiritual seekers, open to everyone, with respect for freedom of belief. Grounded in prayer and faithful to apostolic succession, we celebrate the Divine Mystery in its infinite expressions, with the all-encompassing Christ at the center. We strive to empower clergy and laity to work together at all levels.
We invite all to our altar and are inclusive to those who wish to receive the sacraments regardless of where he or she is in his or her walk with the Lord. Our Mission is to help raise spiritual consciousness and to bring the healing love of God to humanity through celebration of the sacraments, community service, and ongoing commitment to learning and spiritual practice.
